This week our ongoing box office prediction contest focuses on gangs. In order to win, you must predict the opening weekend box office for Gridiron Gang. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film's opening 3-day weekend (Friday to Sunday), without going over will win Dead Man's Shoes on DVD. DVD Releases for September 5, 2006

It's another busy week with a ton of top-notch releases. Not so much from the first run releases, as United 93 - Collector's Edition is the only wide release on the list while Kinky Boots - Buy from Amazon is the best of the limited releases. Nope, to find the best of the best you have to look at the Special Editions and TV on DVD categories. For the former we have three contenders, Brazil - Criterion Collection - 3-Disc Box Set, Gojira / Godzilla - King of the Monsters - 2-Disc Set , and The Seven Samurai - Criterion Collection - Buy from Amazon. While from the latter we have Lost - The Complete Second Season - Extended Experience and Supernatural - The Complete First Season. Trying to limit those five picks to one was impossible, so I'm going with Brazil - Criterion Collection - 3-Disc Box Set and Lost - The Complete Second Season - Extended Experience, although I'm fairly convinced all seven of the above DVDs will find a way into my DVD collection eventually. Per Theatre Charts - Wassup Ends Up on top of the Charts

Wassup Rockers surprised on top of the per theatre charts with $29,400 in its lone theatre, but it wasn't the only film to excel over the weekend. Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man also opened in just one theatre, but still managed an impressive $17,130 in ticket sales. The final film to crack $10,000 was the overall box office leader, Click, which pulled in more than $40 million in 3,749 theatres for an average of $10,673. More...

An Inconvenient Truth repeated on top of the per theatre charts despite a massive expansion this past weekend. Overall the film managed 9th place with $1.4 million in total and a $17,615 per theatre average. Second place again went to the overall box office champion, The Break-Up, with $12,760. More...
