Synopsis
PLAYER HATING: A LOVE STORY takes the audience into an underground world of poverty, gangs, violence and music that is rarely seen in this manner—unless you live it. Told through the eyes of Half-a-Mill, a 26 year-old hip hop artist from the Albany Housing Projects in Crown Heights, Player Hating: A LOVE STORY follows Half, and his crew as they write, perform and launch Half’s first album, Milion in a desperate bid to escape nihilism, poverty and death. True to the origins of hip-hop as an art form, Half’s lyrics are a searing chronicle of life in the ‘hood’. Through the eyes of an urban poet and philosopher, PLAYER HATING: A LOVE STORY reveals the tragedy of living in a community abandoned by government, but maintained through humor, dignity, and the sheer will to survive.
