Synopsis
Immediately upon arriving at Denmark's most notorious prison, Rune learns that his future cellmates "are anxiously waiting for him." Once there, he is forced to crawl through a series of everyday humiliations dished out by the abusive inmates running his section of the prison. Incapable of finding his place in a new and hostile environment, Rune spends the next days cleaning toilets, putting up with sadistic provocations and obeying everyone's orders. But if "R" stands for Rune, the letter also refers to Rashid, a young Muslim prisoner who, like Rune, is at the bottom of another Darwinian clique of prisoners. Although Whites and Muslims are only allowed to mingle under strict supervision, Rune and Rashid meet at the prison's kitchen and together, come up with a plan to deal and transport drugs. Their trafficking scheme brings dope and junk to where they are needed, and collects cash from where it can be found, immediately making Rune and Rashid more influential - or less expendable. But altering the hierarchy inside a maximum security prison can be a dangerous proposition, and as soon as Rashid spills the beans about their secret ways, he and Rune find themselves in some serious trouble.
