The Amazing Spider-Man 2 rose to first place on the international chart with $67.34 million on 14,587 screens for a two-week total of $132.15 million. This week's new openings included South Korea, where the film dominated with $10.84 million on 1,472 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $13.85 million. This is on par with The Amazing Spider-Man. It also earned first place in Russia with $9.34 million on 1,779 screens, which is also about on par with the first film. In Japan, it only managed fourth with $4.11 million on 763 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $5.11 million, which is less than half of the opening of the first film. On the other hand, it was stronger in Italy with $5.71 million on 811 screens over the weekend for a total of $6.58 million. It added $5.66 million on 1,566 screens over the weekend for a total of $27.77 million in the U.K., which again is about on par with The Amazing Spider-Man.

Rio 2 was pushed into second place with $28.9 million in 70 markets for totals of $251.4 million internationally and $347.8 million worldwide. It has yet to open in North Korea, Japan, and Australia, so it should still earn quite a bit more money before its international run is over.

My Old Classmate opened in China earning first place with $17.31 million.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier slipped from third to fourth with $16.0 million in 55 markets for totals of $420.3 million internationally and $645.4 million worldwide. At this pace, it will have no trouble getting to $700 million making it just the third film in the franchise to get to that milestone.

The Other Woman entered the top ten for the first time landing in fifth place with $13.1 million in 32 markets over the weekend for a total $21.2 million. It opened in secound place in the U.K. with $4.47 million on 439 screens. It rose to first place in Australia with $4.03 million on 310 screens over the weekend for a two-week total of $10.45 million.

Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu? earned $11.64 million on 700 screens in 3 markets for a two-week total of $27.14 million. Of this, $11.09 million was earned in 639 screens in France, lifting its total there to $25.71 million.

Iceman 3D opened in first place in China and seventh place internationally with $11.28 million.

Noah fell to eighth place with $11.1 million in 56 markets over the weekend for totals of $222.7 million and $320.0 million worldwide. This is enough that it is safe to assume the film will break even sooner rather than later, but not enough to be a huge financial success for the studio. I don't think we will see more Bible stories adapted in the form of epic visual effects blockbusters. That could have been fun.

Transcendence fell to ninth spot with $10.8 million in 37 markets for a two-week total of $33.1 million. It opened in a trio of major markets, its best being the U.K. where it made $1.99 million on 433 screens, which was enough for third place. It only managed fourth place in Germany with $1.27 million on 405 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $1.32 million. It opened even lower in Australia earning fifth place with $1.28 million on 238 screens. Its international run isn't over, but it would be a shock if it could turn things around given its weak debuts so far.

Divergent fell to tenth place with $9.7 million in 74 markets for totals of $93.2 million internationally and $232.7 million worldwide. The film was an expensive movie to make with a production budget of $85 million. However, it has made enough worldwide to cover all of that and possibly all of its P&A budget as well.

Frozen fell out of the top ten internationally, but it remained in first place in Japan with $7.56 million on 744 screens over the weekend for a total of $118.59 million after seven weeks of release in that market. In total, the film has now made $743.6 million internationally and $1.144 billion worldwide. It has overtaken The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King for sixth place on the all-time chart, but catching up to Iron Man 3 for fifth place is going to be nearly impossible.

There's one more movie to talk about, as Ocho Apellidos Vascos overtook Titanic in its native Spain with a running tally of $61.62 million. Only Avatar has earned more in Spain, and it will remain that way for now, as that movie finished with $109.99 million.
