Awards Season: PGA Hurting for Surprises

The Producers Guild of America handed out their awards on Sunday and the results ranged from mostly predictable to completely predictable.

The categories and winners are...

THEATRICAL MOTION PICTURE

• The Hurt Locker

• Up

• The Cove

• While there were ten films nominated for Best Theatrical Motion Picture, back when they were announced I said the two favorites were The Hurt Locker and Up in the Air. And since The Hurt Locker earned better reviews, it is not surprising that it won.
• I would have loved to have seen Up win for Best Picture, but at least it took home the award for Animated Theatrical Motion Picture, which makes an Oscar nod practically a lock and an Oscar win close to a 90% sure thing.
• The Cove won for Best Documentary and considering it was the highest profile film nominated, that is hardly a surprise.
