Movie Website Reviews for the Weekend of February 13th, 2009
February 15, 2009
Three wide releases and three limited releases on this week's list, and while most have good sites, none have great sites. And none are worthy of the Weekly Website Award.
Confessions of a Shopaholic - Official Site
Friday the 13th - Official Site
Gomorrah - No Official Site
The International - Official Site
Two Lovers - Official Site
Under the Sea 3-D - Official Site
A good site with all of the usual features, as well as a few extras. These extras include several clips, two music videos, and a couple featurettes (one on the making of the movie, and another on the fashion). Speaking of fashion, there is a section devoted to several of the outfits worn by Ilsa Fisher. Obviously a heavy focus on the fashion, which makes sense. Overall it is a strong site, but not an award-worthy site.
All the usual features are here (synopsis, production notes, cast & crew bios, image gallery, and trailer). There's not much in terms of extras, but there is a section on the soundtrack where you can listen to clips from seven of the thirteen songs. (On a side note, "Sister Christian"? Really? Granted, I like the song, after all, I am a child of the 80s, but it doesn't seem to be a good fit for this movie.) There's also a little bit of animation on the site, and some effective use of sound, but not enough to truly stand out.
Nothing to review.
Most of the usual features are here (minus the bios). There is also an addictive strategy game here, but I don't think it will sell the movie very well.
All the usual features, but nothing it terms of style. This is disappointing; sure it's a limited release, but it is a limited release with some big names.
Plenty of features here, including synopsis, cast & crew bios, educator's guide, image gallery and trailer. There is also a behind-the-scenes section with video clips, production notes, and more, as well as a featurette on the making of the movie. There are two games, a trivia game and a personality quiz. (I came up as a Frogfish the first time and a Cuttlefish the second. I would much rather be a Cuttlefish than a Frogfish.) Overall it is effective, and is better than most sites, but it is not award-worthy.
