International Details - Another Milestone for Hancock
August 10, 2008
Hancock fell from second to sixth with $12.03 million on 5425 screens in 68 markets, however, it still reached $300 million internationally since last week and now has a running tally of $319.43 million. Its best market of the weekend was Spain where it added $1.92 million on 567 screens over the weekend for a total of $20.56 million after two. Meanwhile, its best market overall remains the U.K. where it has $47.09 million after a month of release, including $900,000 on 318 screens this past weekend. With Japan and Italy still ahead, the film should become Will Smith's second $600 million movie, but it will end well back of Independence Day.
- Thanks to openings in the U.K. and France, as well as other smaller markets, The X-Files: I Want to Believe remained flat down just 3% to $8.72 million on 3891 million screens in 40 markets for a total of $21.35 million internationally. In the U.K. it opened in fourth place with $1.75 million on 402 screens while it made $2.12 million on 485 screens in France, but that was for the full week. So far the film has already made more internationally than it did domestically, and has made more worldwide than it cost to make.

- A first place opening in Germany helped The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian more than double its weekend haul as it rose to ninth place with $6.70 million on 2896 screens in 32 markets for a total of $246.61 million. In that market it pulled in $3.96 million on 758 screens, which was about $2 million lower than the original's opening, which is actually better than its worldwide average so far.
- Wanted earned $6.48 million on 1589 screens in 38 markets for a total of $115.55 million. This includes $2.88 million on 256 screens the film earned during its second place debut in Australia.

This includes an opening in Japan, but it missed the top ten there with $560,000 on 157 screens. The movie is nearly done, however, it has already earned as much as the original did worldwide, so the studio should be at least somewhat happy.
