New Releases have Limited Success on the Per Theater Chart
June 5, 2007
Only three films were able to crack into the $10,000 club on the per theater chart.
The only new release to do so was Knocked Up, which was barely able to reach that figure with $10,690.
Second place went to The Golden Door with $10,169, while the overall number one film, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, earned third place with $10,134.
No new limited release was able to top $10,000, but at least Day Watch was able to come close with an average of $9,346 in five theaters.
This is not nearly as strong an opening as the original managed, but better reviews could help its legs.
Moviegoers didn't go crazy for Crazy Love, but its average of $5,984 was still solid.
Ten Canoes was next with an mediocre $3,519.
I' Reed Fish barely cracked $1,000 with $1,026, while Four Lane Highway and Rise: Blood Hunter failed to even reach that level with $955 and $942 respectively.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
