March 1, 2015

There were a lot of new releases in the top 30 of the DVD sales chart. However, there were only two new releases in the top five. Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day earned first place, as it sold 345,000 units and generated $5.98 million during its first week of release.

Addicted had no Blu-ray release, but it debuted in second place on the DVD sales chart with 143,000 units / $1.85 million. The Best of Me was in a virtual tie for second place with 142,000 units / $2.12 million over the week for totals of 369,000 units / $5.57 million after two weeks of release. John Wick and Dracula Untold were also in a virtual tie for fourth place, with the former outselling the latter by less than 200 units. During its second week of release, John Wick sold 131,000 units and generated $1.96 million in sales for totals of 357,000 units / $5.39 million thus far. Dracula Untold was right behind with 131,000 units / $2.25 million for the week, but has sold more in total at 367,000 units / $6.40 million, also after two weeks of release.

The next new release was Nightcrawler, which opened in ninth place with 67,000 units / $1.14 million. The film wasn't a major player at the box office, but it should have performed better than this. LEGO: DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League rounded out the top ten with 65,000 units / $856,000 million. The Song opened further down the list in 14th place with 51,000 units / $770,000. The final new release of the week was Kill the Messenger, which opened in 18th place with 35,000 units / $609,000.
