Per Theater Chart: Black Panther Tickled Pink
September 9, 2015
There was just one film in the $10,000 club, The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution, which earned $20,215 in its lone theater over the weekend. This is even more impressive, as it was a Wednesday release and earned $28,580 over five days. While it was the only film to reach $10,000 over the three-day weekend,
Un gallo con muchos huevos did earn an average of $11,030 if you include Monday.
Most of the rest of the new limited releases struggled. The lone real exception was Welcome Back, which pulled in an average of $5,291 in 135 theaters. It is a Bollywood film, so it won't last in theaters very long, but it will grab $1 million soon. Dragon Blade and Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine were neck-and-neck with averages of $2,168 and $2,060 respectively. Before We Go missed the Mendoza Line with an average of $887 in 21 theaters. On the other hand, it was playing on Video on Demand, so this low opening average is not a shock.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:
