Thursday Night Previews: Intruder Takes a Shot at the other Wide Releases
May 3, 2019
Despite earning the worst reviews, The Intruder had the best previews among the new releases last night. That said, it only managed $865,000. It will likely beat our prediction for the weekend as a whole, albeit by a small margin with just over $10 million. That would be a great start for a film that reportedly only cost $5 million to make.
Long Shot only managed $660,000 during its previews. It should have better legs over the rest of the weekend than The Intruder, thanks it part to its genre, but also due to its reviews. In fact, it could have such long legs that it comes close to our $16 million prediction, but $12 million is more likely.
UglyDolls had an ugly opening with just $300,000 in previews. It is a family film, so low preview numbers were expected, but not this low. Add in the weak reviews and it could struggle to hit $10 million over the weekend. I don’t think it will be that bad, but we will have a better idea tomorrow when the Friday estimates show up.
