Synopsis

In this new documentary, the story of the "Canadian Caper" is told by the man who knows it best: Ken Taylor, Canada's former ambassador to Iran, who hid the six Americans in his official residence and obtained the counterfeit documents that allowed them to make their dramatic escape from Tehran. Based on Robert Wright's book, the film uncovers new information and adds valuable context, including an historical overview of Iran, interviews with the rescued Americans, former Prime Minister Joe Clark, ex-CIA officer Tony Mendez, and many others.

Per Theater Chart: Perfect Dreams

May 20th, 2015

I'll See You In My Dreams

Pitch Perfect 2 opened in first place on the overall chart and matched that on the per theater chart earning an average of $19,930. I'll See You in My Dreams placed second with an average of $16,447 in three theaters. Its reviews suggest it has at least some potential to expand. Pather Panchali was the only holdover in the $10,000 club with $14,793 in its lone theater during its second week of release. Mad Max: Fury Road earned an average of $12,271. It is not that common that we have two wide releases in the $10,000 club. Every Secret Thing was the final film in the $10,000 with $11,083 in one theater. More...

Limited Releases: Good and Slow

May 15th, 2015

Good Kill

This week's list of limited releases is shorter than usual, as I needed to get the home market numbers done. On the other hand, there are only six or so films earning great reviews and / or any amount of buzz, so there's not much you are missing. Good Kill could be the biggest hit, at least for a week before it goes to Video on Demand. Others, like Slow West, are already playing on Video on Demand. More...
